The Company has long-established programs to attract, develop and retain a highly talented workforce that is representative of the regions where we operate. ExxonMobil values the exceptional quality and diversity of its employees.
ExxonMobil operates in various environments and diverse cultures. Wherever we operate, certain principles consistently apply to the Company’s relationships with its employees and its expectations of conduct in the workplace. ExxonMobil’s Standards of Business Conduct provide a worldwide framework for responsible operations and are consistent with the spirit and intent of the International Labour Organization 1998 Declaration Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work. The ILO Declaration sets an obligation on Member States to promote and realize the following principles:
ExxonMobil and its affiliates support these principles. The Company and its affiliates develop and implement suitable policies, procedures and practices in light of applicable laws and specific circumstances to accomplish the objectives of the ILO Declaration as noted below.
ExxonMobil recognizes and respects its employees’ right to join associations and choose representative organizations for the purpose of engaging in collective bargaining in a manner consistent with applicable laws, rules and regulations as well as local customs as appropriate.
ExxonMobil does not use forced or compulsory labor including prison labor. ExxonMobil recruits its employees and provides working conditions, including payment of wages and benefits, that comply with applicable laws and regulations.
Throughout ExxonMobil's worldwide operations, we forbid the use of children in our workforce. All ExxonMobil employees are above the legal employment age in the country of their employment.
ExxonMobil's Standards of Business Conduct include an Equal Employment Opportunity Policy, which states, in part:
It is the policy of Exxon Mobil Corporation to provide equal employment opportunity in conformance with all applicable laws and regulations to individuals who are qualified to perform job requirements.
The Standards of Business Conduct also include a Harassment in the Workplace Policy that prohibits any form of harassment in the workplace with the objective of providing a work environment that fosters mutual employee respect.
Affiliates are expected to adopt policies consistent with the Equal Employment Opportunity Policy and the Harassment in the Workplace Policy. Affiliate management is responsible for implementing and administering these policies within their organizations.
