Marib Light

Production and handling

The fields for Marib Light Crude are located South-West of Marib in the Republic of Yemen. The crude comprises a blend of production from Marib and Jannah fields. ExxonMobil has interests in both blocks. Recent production from the Marib and Jannah blocks has averaged 195kbd. The fields produce to a central oil production unit, then through a pipeline to Salif on the Red Sea, where a 3MB FSO (floating storage and offloading vessel) holds it for export.

Loading is from Ras Isa Marine Terminal, operated by Yemen Hunt Oil Company.

Ras Isa Terminal has the following vessel restrictions:

• Maximum LOA: 351 m
• Maximum bean: 56 m
• Maximum draft: unlimited
• Maximum DWT: 307 KT (80 KT minimum)

Characteristics

Marib Light is a sweet, extra light, low metals crude with a good yield of high N+A naphtha and distillates. It is lube-rated and produces good conversion feed. It is lighter than most North Sea or Middle East crudes and more similar to Far East extra light crudes, with a lower pour point.
