Ormen Lange

Production and handling

Ormen Lange lies in the Møre basin in the southern part of the Norwegian Sea. The field contains gas and some condensate. The sea depth in the area varies from 800 to 1100 metres. Ormen Lange is being developed with wells drilled from subsea templates. The unprocessed wellstreams are routed through multiphase pipelines to an onshore facility at Nyhamna. At the plant at Nyhamna the gas will be dried and compressed before being transported through Langeled, export pipeline, to UK. Condensate is exported by tankers from Nyhamna. Norsk Hydro was the operator for the development phase of Ormen Lange and Shell is now the operator for the operational phase.

Recoverable reserves are put at 400 billion cubic metres of gas and 22 million cubic metres of condensate.

The Ormen Lange production started in October 2007. ExxonMobil's share of production is 7.23%.
